Tamara Adrian (Venezuela)

In 2014, mass public protests broke out across Venezuela due to deteriorating democratic and economic conditions. In response, President Maduro cracked down on freedom of expression and assembly, arresting those who spoke up against him. More than 100 people remain political prisoners today.
As a Member of Venezuela’s General Assembly, Tamara Adrian is working from the inside to create change. A former member of civil society, she is passionate about the role that ordinary citizens play in calling out abuse and exposing the truth. This, she believes, is critical to bringing democracy back to Venezuela.
